Stop Waiting for the Perfect Time!
Stop Waiting for the Perfect Time!
“I’m just waiting for the right time.”
Have you ever said that?
I have.
Sometimes it sounds responsible.
“I need to think about it a little longer.”
“I need to get a few more things in place.”
“I need to pray about it some more.”
“I need to be sure.”
And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to do.
But sometimes?
We already know.
We’re just scared to move.
There comes a point when preparation can quietly turn into procrastination.
Not because you’re lazy.
Not because you don’t want it badly enough.
But because moving means stepping into something you cannot completely control.
And that can be uncomfortable.
You want to know how it’s going to work.
You want confirmation that you’re making the right decision.
You want to know that if you take the step, everything is going to turn out the way you hoped.
But purpose doesn’t always come with that kind of guarantee.
Sometimes God gives you enough light for the next step—not the entire staircase.
And you have to decide whether you trust Him enough to move.
Here’s something I’ve learned:
You can spend so much time trying to get ready that you never actually get started.
You can research it.
Plan it.
Talk about it.
Write it down.
Make another list.
Take another class.
Ask another person.
And still not move.
At some point, you have to ask yourself:
“What am I really waiting for?”
Because if you’re waiting until you’re no longer nervous…
You might be waiting a long time.
If you’re waiting until everybody understands your decision…
You might never move.
If you’re waiting until you know exactly how everything will work out…
You could miss the opportunity sitting right in front of you.
Faith doesn’t require you to have every answer.
It requires you to trust the One who does.
And sometimes faith looks like taking one step while your knees are still shaking.
Sending the email.
Making the call.
Submitting the application.
Starting the business.
Writing the first page.
Having the conversation.
Signing up for the class.
Walking through the door.
Whatever your “next step” is, it doesn’t have to be huge.
It just has to be yours.
I think sometimes we underestimate the power of one decision.
One YES can change the direction of your life.
One step can introduce you to an opportunity you never saw coming.
One conversation can connect you to the right person.
One act of obedience can position you for something you’ve been praying about for years.
But you have to move.
And no, you may not feel completely ready.
Here’s the thing:
Ready doesn’t always feel like ready.
Sometimes ready feels like nervous.
Sometimes ready feels like uncertain.
Sometimes ready sounds like,
“God, I believe this is where You’re leading me, so I’m going to move even though I don’t know what happens next.”
That’s faith.
You don’t need perfect circumstances to walk in purpose.
You need courage for the next step.
Remember what you’ve already walked through.
You’ve made it through things you once wondered if you could handle.
You’ve learned.
You’ve grown.
You’ve been stretched.
You’ve been prepared in ways you probably didn’t even recognize while it was happening.
So maybe you’re not waiting on God to do something.
Maybe God is waiting on you to use what He has already placed in your hands.
Because what you need is already in you.
You are more prepared than fear wants you to believe.
And you don’t have to see the entire road to begin walking.
How you go through determines how you come out.™
So stop allowing the fear of getting it wrong to keep you from moving at all.
Pray.
Listen.
Discern.
And then move.
You are purposed.
You are positioned.
You are predestined.
You are equipped.
You are prepared.
The perfect time may never come.
But your next step is waiting.
Take it.
Let’s take a Selah Moment:
What have you been saying you’re “waiting for the right time” to do? Are you truly waiting for direction, or has fear, uncertainty, or the need for everything to be perfect kept you from taking the next step?
What is ONE step you can take now?
Now Our Faith Declaration:
I will not allow fear to disguise itself as preparation.
I trust God to guide me as I move.
I do not need every answer before I take the next step.
I have been equipped for what God is calling me to do.
I will move with wisdom, courage, and faith.
I am ready to walk boldly in my purpose.
With Purpose,
