ROOTED: What’s Holding You When Life Starts Shifting?

Life has a way of shifting without asking your permission.

One phone call.
One conversation.
One unexpected change.
One closed door.
One decision you didn’t see coming.

And suddenly, what felt secure doesn’t feel quite so secure anymore.

That’s when you find out what you’re really rooted in.

Because being rooted doesn’t mean nothing ever shakes you.

It means the shaking doesn’t get to uproot you.

There is a difference.

Sometimes we think being strong means we shouldn’t feel the impact of what happens to us.

But you can be rooted and still have moments when you’re tired.

You can be rooted and still have questions.

You can be rooted and still cry.

You can be rooted and still admit,
“This is harder than I thought it would be.”

Being rooted isn’t pretending the storm doesn’t exist.

It’s knowing where to plant your feet while you’re standing in it.

And that matters.

Because when life starts shifting, we have a tendency to grab whatever feels secure.

People.
Positions.
Plans.
Titles.
Money.
Relationships.
Our own understanding.

But what happens when the thing you were depending on changes?

What happens when the plan doesn’t work?

What happens when someone walks away?

What happens when the door closes?

What happens when God allows you to enter a season you never would have chosen for yourself?

That’s when your roots matter.

Roots aren’t developed when everybody can see them.

They grow beneath the surface.

Quietly.

Deeply.

In places nobody applauds.

And sometimes, while you’re wondering why nothing seems to be happening, God is doing some of His deepest work in you.

Strengthening your faith.

Deepening your trust.

Changing your perspective.

Teaching you how to hear His voice.

Reminding you that your identity was never supposed to be attached to a title, a position, a person, or a circumstance.

You are more than what happened to you.

You are more than what changed around you.

And you are certainly more than the thing you lost.

Your purpose did not disappear because your circumstances changed.

Read that again.

Your purpose did not disappear because your circumstances changed.

Sometimes the surroundings change because God is preparing to show you just how deep your roots really are.

You thought you needed that position.

You thought you needed that person's approval.

You thought everything had to happen according to your plan.

And then life shifted.

But you’re still here.

Still standing.

Still believing.

Still growing.

Still becoming.

That doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt.

It means it didn’t uproot you.

There have been seasons in my own life when I couldn’t see what God was doing.

I had questions.

I had moments when I wondered,
“God, what are You doing?”

But I’ve learned something along the way.

I don’t have to understand everything God is doing to trust that He is still working.

And neither do you.

Sometimes your job is simply to stay rooted.

Rooted in prayer.

Rooted in faith.

Rooted in truth.

Rooted in who God says you are.

Because circumstances will change.

People will change.

Opportunities will change.

Seasons will change.

But when your roots go deep enough, change doesn’t have to destroy you.

It can develop you.

And sometimes, it can even redirect you toward something you never would have discovered if everything had stayed the same.

That’s why you can’t judge your future by what your life looks like right now.

God is still writing.

God is still working.

And God is still positioning you.

So when life starts shifting, don’t panic because everything around you doesn’t look familiar.

Check your roots.

Remember who you are.

Remember Whose you are.

And remember:

How you go through determines how you come out.™

The storm may shake your surroundings.

But it does not have permission to uproot your purpose.

You are purposed.
You are positioned.
You are predestined.
You are equipped.
You are prepared.

Stay rooted.

There is still more growing beneath the surface than you can see.

Let’s take a Selah Moment:

When life shifts unexpectedly, what do you tend to reach for first? Is your security rooted in circumstances that can change, or are you rooted deeply enough in God, your identity, and your purpose to remain grounded even when everything around you looks different?

Now Our Faith Declaration:

I am rooted in God, not in my circumstances.
I will not allow changing seasons to change what I know to be true.
My faith is deeper than what I can see.
My purpose is not determined by what happens around me.
I trust God even when I do not understand the process.
I will remain rooted, grounded, and confident in who He created me to be.
